STOP! Never touch a bat with your bare hands and consult your doctor if you are bitten by a bat. Bats can be vectors of rabies. Never handle bats directly without proper safety precautions. If you suspect a person or a pet has been scratched or bitten by a bat, contact your local health department immediately.
Tennessee now allows bat rehabilitation! If you find an injured bat, you can contact one of the four Tennessee rehabs licensed to care for bats. Send a photo of the animal when you contact them.
